Josemaría de Churtichaga, (ES) Architect and the founder of the company CHURTICHAGA + QUADRA-SALCEDO arquitectos which is the Spanish co-partner. He will design and organise the set up of for all the exhibitions and events for The Equator Memorial Project in Europe.
Architect Josemaría de Churtichaga is since 2008 Associate Dean at IE School of Architecture and Design and until 2011 was also Director for Undergraduate Architecture Studies. He is also Director for the Design Thinking Launch Program at IMBA Master at IE Business School (ES). In 1995 Josemaría de Churtichaga and Cayetana de la Quadra-Salcedo founded the firm, CHURTICHAGA + QUADRA-SALCEDO architecture & resorces (www.chqs.net). Since then the office has designed and built several buildings, focussing mainly on public buildings, cultural facilities and infrastructure obtained as the result of national and international competitions. Experience; Frank Gehry Chair/ University of Toronto October 2013 – Present (2 years)Toronto, Canada Area. Named in honour of Frank O. Gehry, this endowed chair brings a highly recognized international architect to teach a graduate studio and deliver a public lecture at the Daniels Faculty each year. Students in their third year of the Master of Architecture program study with the chair holder before they start their design thesis. Heather Reisman, founder of Indigo Books and Music, and 45 others raised $1 million, matched by U of T, to establish the chair in November 2000, named for the Toronto-born designer of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, the Experience Music Project in Seattle and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Opening of a NEW SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN, started in 2008 by IE UNIVERSITY. The goal was to open a new academic model for Architecture education, and position the school in the short term as a recognised global player through excellence, innovation, design and entrepreneurship based education, and an aggressive unique Internship Program. In 2010, the DESIGN INTELLIGENCE Ranking of Architecture and Design Schools considered IE School of Architecture as the leader of the “HIDDEN GEMS IN GLOBAL ARCHITECTURE EDUCATION” category. This US ranking is the most prestigious regarding Architecture and Design Schools.
